Saved, Transformed & Freed

“I have been stuck in the muck and mire of pain and buried deep in a pit of despair all of my life with no way out. Until one day this mighty God heard the cries of this struggling soul, the cries of my spirit wanting to be free and the heart of one who wanted to know Him at all costs. God was faithful to come and grab my hand to pull me out of the pit of despair and show me that life can be joyful, that there is hope if I believed that He is a caring, loving, dependable, understanding and forgiving God. That no matter where I am, what I get myself into or what wrongs I do, He will always love me.

The belief that I am loved unconditionally was hard, at first, to accept because of all the wrongs that have been done to me and I have done to others in my life. Over time God has used my brothers and sisters of the church to show me over and over again how much I am loved. Even when I fail and try to run away from the perfect love of God, God is faithful to remind me that I am His and He cares.

The muck and mire of pain though was not going to be so easy to heal and not without sacrifice.  Actually there was more agony in removing those pains and hurts of my life. Many a times God would pull out my deformed heart, showing me my wrongs and my deceived way of thinking. I had to give up my stubbornness and my control-hungry heart. I had to go through the harshness and reality of seeing who I really was and understanding the lies I had believed and hear the truth, even though it hurt, in order to change my heart. I had to surrender my will and give up my life in order for the chains to be broken. My will was what kept me in bondage for all those years, but God has transformed this deceived soul that was wrapped in chains by the enemy.

The LORD hears His people when they call to Him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time. Psalm 34:17-19

I have an eternal hope that this mighty God of mine will continue to change me and grow me into the likeness of the One that came and saved this sinner. I know I have done nothing good in my life to deserve this kind of compassion and love, but just because He chose me in the beginning to love me and to be His daughter. My heart has a new found adoration for the God that accepts me and loves me just as I am. As the healing in my heart has started and He has begun to replace those pains with the loving truths of who He is, so does my significance of being created for His purpose begin to spring to life. My heart no longer sees the misery and pains of my past life, but is being transformed into the image of One that created me.

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17

The gift of being a humble servant is the cry of my heart. The desire to help and serve without recognition so that the glory of God can be shown through me is my fire. Life is not about me anymore, but about those whom God has chosen for me to come into contact with as I walk on this earth. I understand it’s not about my pains or about what hurts others have done to me, but about encouraging others that are still bound in chains and believing the lies the enemy speaks to them. To help them be set free, walking in the purposeful life that God originally created for them and understanding their worth in Him and His kingdom. To help them understand the truth that: because of Christ and His redemption, I am completely forgiven and fully pleasing to God. I am totally accepted by God… just as I am.

Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow.  Lead me by Your truth and teach me, for You are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in You. Psalm 25:4-5 NLT”
