What is God’s Love?

“The love of God is unconditional.

As I was reading through Joshua and Judges, I could see how the Israelites continued to turn away from God all the time. But God always heard their cries and loved them so much to deliver them from the desert places they were in. There is no other being in the entire universe that would love me as much as God does. God’s love is really far beyond my understanding. No matter how sinful I was, am or will be, God continues to show me love!

He loved the Israelites so much that even after countless rules, kings, prophets, signs and miracles, He sent down the ultimate sacrifice – His Son Jesus Himself – to pay for our sins and give me a sure way back to Him forever!

Jesus protrays to me the true meaning of love. He didn’t have to go to the cross. He could have said no. He didn’t even have to come to Earth in the form of man. But, Jesus – God – wanted me to really know how much I am loved by the Father.

Deuteronomy says, “Know therefore that the Lord you God is God. He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments.”

Ephesians 2:4-5 says, “But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions. It is by grace you have been saved…”

I John 4:8-10 says, “Whoever does no love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not taht we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

God is love. There is no way to describe His love for me. His love is never ending, has no boundaries, no stipulations, will never change or fail me and is forever!

I John 4:15-17 says, “If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. and so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgement, because in this world we are life Him.”

His love for me is so great that even when I sin or disobey Him, He will lovingly discipline me to show me my wrongs. But, then out of His GREAT love He has for me, He draws me back again and shows me His mercy. That’s LOVE!

Every day God continues to show me how much He loves me through the people He sends to surround me and through the encouraging words He speaks to me. Every day is a new challenge for me to understand and receive this incredible love for which I am grateful to be learning!”
