God Takes Care of His Children

“Last Sunday, while I was dressing my daughter for church, I realized that the dresses I had bought for her should have been at least 1 size bigger. That lead me to start praying. My exact prayer was for God to please impress upon someone to bless her with at least 3 additional dresses because she had outgrown all her other clothing for church and was therefore down to just 2 pieces. I was looking for God to perhaps work this out within the next months because I had asked Him for 3, not just 1. In my mind, I felt extremely bold. I then prayed for patience to humbly wait.

Wednesday of that same week, I received a voice mail from a sister in the Lord asking me to please call her back because she had a question to ask me. I told my mother, who was beside me in the car, that I needed to return this call before church, in case the sister needed a ride to church. While talking with the sister, she seemed a little shy. I was puzzled because this is someone who is normally very free in talking to me. She said she had some items to give me, but that she felt ashamed to ask, in case I wouldn’t want them. I immediately began to praise the Lord and told my mother that God had answered my prayer of suppying clothes for my daughter for church! Out of appreciation and excitement, I asked the sister to bring the items to service. I told her what my prayer had been and how God had raised her up to bless my family!

When I got home, I realized that there were 12 dresses and several shirts, blouses and skirts! God is truly amazing in how He does things! Many times, we do not know how God is working out a particular situation, and sometimes waiting seems like forever. But one thing I am always sure of is that now or later, big or small, yes or no, God is working out our situations. He’s doing things behind the scenes that in my finite mind I cannot even begin to comprehend! My prayer had been for three, and God provided 4 times that amount – with extras! Wow! This is just one of the marvelous things God has been doing in my family’s life!

Matthew 6:25-34 says, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or stow away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you – you of little faith? So do not worry saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the pagans run after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
