Walking Hand-In-Hand: Big-Breaks, God’s Favor, and Trust

After graduating college this past May, I heard about an promotion opportunity at my
current place of employment (Wawa). The position is a fast track to becoming a General
Manager at a store, within approximately 2 years, and only for individuals with a
Bachelors Degree.

At the beginning of September I was told that my Area Manager was interested in
having me interview for the position that month. A couple of days went by, and on the
7th, when I came into work, my General Manager told me I had to call the talent
recruiter immediately to schedule the first of two interviews.

I quickly got my phone out and made the call to this individual.
While on the phone he explained to me that he would be going on vacation for a week
after the upcoming Friday and wondered if we could schedule a phone interview for that
Friday. I gladly agreed, but before I hung up the phone I had a feeling that I knew
the individual I was speaking to. After asking a couple of questions, we both realized
that we had met each other in person at a company pep-rally a year ago.
He said that he remembered our conversation at the company rally and that he was
looking forward to calling me and getting me started in the process.

                …..God Sighting Number 1

As I was getting ready for the phone interview, God started encouraging me to "not
study” very hard for the interview, but to trust Him to give me words in the moment
just as He has always done. He also showed me that I had come in agreement with a
lie from my past that I am not good at interviewing. After I renounced that lie, I
felt strong, bold, and courageous as I went into the interview….
After passing the phone interview with God’s grace and wisdom, I began to mentally
get ready for the last interview that would be in-person with a group of managers.

                ….God Sighting Number 2

On Friday the 16th, A week following the phone interview, I got a phone call from my
Assistant General Manager letting me know that our Area Manager was interested in
scheduling the last interview on the upcoming Wednesday. With all
my excitement I began to be anxious and study hard for the interview. However, as
the weekend passed, and I got closer to the interview, I kept hearing God tell me to
not study and just listen and trust Him...that He would give me the words in the
moment, and I need not worry, but trust Him, even if I might not know what they will
ask or say.

On Wednesday morning, a couple of hours before the interview, I kept hearing that
same message from God. I decided to put all of my study materials down, refuse
to be anxious, and just trust Him.

I began to listen to some worship music and recall my own testimonies of how He has
been faithful. I was practicing speaking to my heart, and choosing to speak and
believe truth of how God has equipped me, and that He was the one who would give me
the position anyway, and it was His favor that I seek. As I continued to meditate on this
truth, I told the Lord, “If I have always walked hand-in-hand with you through my
other moments in my life, then I don’t want to do this any other way… Pass or Fail…
I would rather say I walked with you, then try and impress them and not be myself by
doing it in my own strength!”

While in the interview I felt at ease. God gave me wisdom
in my words and a peace as I answered all of their questions.

                ….God Sighting Number 3

After the interview, I asked when I could expect to hear from them with an answer.
My Area Manager (who was responsible for my promotion) spoke up during the interview and
said that instead of taking a couple of days to get back to me, she would call me that
evening with a decision. I was already starting to rejoice knowing that God was paving
the way for me to have favor with this company.

                …. God Sighting Number 4

Needless to Say, a couple of hours later I got the phone call and was offered the
job! YEAH GOD!!!!!! ALL GLORY TO YOU!!!! You showed yourself faithful, and had
your fingers “all up in it.” It was evident that He was at work, He went before
me and paved the way for my promotion!

During the phone call I was informed that I would be starting my training the
following Monday. God gave me so much favor that within 5 days of the job,
I would begin training!

                …… God Sighting Number 5

Training has been going great, and I am looking forward to learning a lot. I also
recently found out that I might be sent to be a part of the management structure of
a new store opening this January!

…..Soon to be God Sighting Number 6

This testimony has taught me to continue to walk hand-in-hand even when I think I
can do something in my own power. Also it has shown me how fun it is to trust God to
come through… because the way He gives favor and wisdom is always cause for awe and
wonder. This testimony has also reminded me that God is the one who ordains people
in leadership, and I can’t do anything to hinder that or His other glorious plans.

I share my testimony to encourage you that God is an awesome God of creating favor,
going before you and paving a way, even when you might not see it happening.

I waited a whole summer with no word as to when or how… but once the time came to be
in God’s place at God’s time… it happened so fast that I got to enjoy the ride.

I speak over you that the next big-break you've been waiting and praying for is
coming soon, and that you will have favor beyond your ability to control so that it
is evident that God was the one who did it!

These are promises that God gave me:

Luke 12: 11-12
11 “When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities,
do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say,
12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”

Isaiah 30:21
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind
you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it.

Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will
be added to you.

Romans 13:1
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority
except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been
established by God.

Psalm 27:13-14
13 I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
