Our Mission & Vision

“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has annointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives…”  Isaiah 61:1

When we talk about the mission of our church, what we are really talking about is our purpose. Why are we here?

The mission of Word Fellowship Church comes from Isaiah 61:1-3. We are all, at one time, broken-hearted. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are saved – in an instant. We are seated with Christ in the Heavenlies, according to Ephesians 2:6. Our eternity with Christ is secure. But, we still have our old hurts, habits and fleshly desires to contend with. Salvation of our souls happens in an instant, the healing of our hearts, minds, and emotions is a process.

Even after having accepted Christ as our Savior, our lives may still feel out of control. Our emotions may run rampant, our decisions may be ungodly.

Thankfully, God says: I’m in here! If you will allow Me, I will heal your broken heart. I will set you free!

Our mission here at WFC is to be the hands and feet of Jesus, as He heals the broken-hearted and sets the captives free.

Our Vision

This leads us to our next question – the question of the vision of our church. Here we are really talking about the what and the how of our mission.

In a very practical sense, what does this being the hands and feet of Jesus as He does the healing look like, both now and in the future? How is this to be facilitated through Word Fellowship Church?

Our vision for the future begins with building an additional multi-purpose building to be used as a gym/community center.  People need to be fed – physically, emotionally and spiritually – and people need a safe place – physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Some of the plans we have for our new building/s include:

  • Feeding the homeless, needy and lonely
  • Housing the homeless
  • Helping those caught up in addiction
  • Providing transitional employment for those in need
  • Providing for the care of children and teens

Here at Word, we believe that it is God who will accomplish all of these things. We will not talk endlessly about money or have building fund pledge drives. God has given us this vision and has asked us to be faithful. Faithful in prayer. Faithful in giving – of our time, our talents, ourselves. Faithful in growing toward maturity in Him.

If you believe this mission and vision is something God is calling you to as well, explore with us further. Our Sunday Service, Mid-Week Bible Study, and Small Groups throughout the week are all excellent opportunities to get to know us better and find out how you may fit into what God is doing at Word Fellowship Church.
